Leverage Your Written Articles
If you write, leverage it on the Web. Google is crying out for articles. They reward sites where someone actually writes something. When it comes to marketing at Google, one hand written article will place higher than dozens of pages of pictures and sparse text.
Sites with written articles index higher. They perform better. If you write, if someone that works for you writes, or if your company has written material, use those articles (Google food) to gain recognition for your company. Here are three ways to gain recognition on the Web with written articles:
1. Publish your article
Send your article as an email newsletter. Then send it again by snail mail. Email newsletter recipient rates are below 50 percent now. Snail mail recipient rates are higher. Sometimes low tech is better. When you publish your article your constituents appreciate it, you establish yourself as an expert, and you'll keep your name coming up. These are all good things.
2. Put your article on the main page of your site
After mailing your article, put it on the main page of your site. Google likes to see your main page updated from time to time. When you put a new article on your site, Google's spiders see it. It's impressive to them. It shows you write new content and update your site on a regular basis. Sites move up dramatically based on content updates alone.
3. Archive your articles and offer them on your site too
When you write a new article, don't discard the old one. Save it. Create a collection of past articles and offer them on your site in a sub-folder. Name the sub-folder your top keyword. Name each web page (filename of the article) the subject of the article. Each time you add an article to your collection, you give Google another top quality, hand written web page to index. Since the keyword (the subject of the article) is in BOTH the folder name and the filename (and the page title and meta description if you're really sharp), you stand a great chance of getting the article indexed.
Writing articles adds to your Web marketing campaign. First, you get a bump when the article is published. Second, you move up (in Google) because your main page is always being updated. Third, you get dozens of additional independent Google listings (on the subject matter of the article itself) from your library past articles. Use your articles to the fullest. They are far too valuable to leave sitting on your hard drive.
