Tips and Tricks: Buying Traffic

Buying Traffic

When is it worth it to buy clicks?

The answer is not very often, unless you are super organized.

There are two main sources for buying clicks:

1.Overture - they cover Yahoo and MSN

2.Google - they cover Google.

It's easy. You signup you for an account and bid for the keyword and position you'd like to have. Say you want "Costa Rica Travel" in fourth position for example. You need to bid 52 cents per click.

Buying traffic without a plan is dangerous. Traffic is expensive. You can easily get stuck with a big bill and nothing to show for it. To make it work you need four things:

1.You need a compelling offer in a Starburst on your main page.

2.You need a form on the site for people to respond to your offer.

3.You need to track how many offers (forms) are submitted.

4.You need to know how many submissions result in sales.

Now you have everything you need to measure your system.

1.You know your cost per click.

2.You know how many people Overture or Google send to the site (it's on your bill).

3. You know your cost per submission and your cost per sale.

Run the numbers. For example, Overture sends 50 people to the site at $1.00 each. Of these 4 submitted offers resulting in 2 sales. It cost $25 per sale. If you make $250 per sale you have a solid system you can ramp up. When buying traffic organization is key. It can work if you are organized.
