Create Web Photo Albums Quickly
Every once in a while you'll find a great free offer on the Internet.
So it is with software called JAlbum.
People want to put digital photos on the Web - typically photos of events or a portfolio of work. It is a common request.
Putting dozens of photos on the Web takes a lot of work. First you have to resize the photos (digital photos are usually too big for the Web). That requires Photoshop (a $400 program). And you have to make two photos, a large one for display and a small one (thumbnail) for the directory. Finally you have to create the Web pages, place the images, and link everything together. Creating photo galleries takes a lot of time, even for the professional.
Until JAlbum, that is.
JAlbum is software you download and install on your computer. When you run it, it opens with a Window that says "Drop Images or Image Folders Here."
Go to your Desktop, navigate to your photos, and drag them into the Window. When they're all in the Window click "Make Album." The software grinds away, resizing photos and thumbnails perfectly for the web, creating web pages, and linking every together - while you do nothing.
After a minute or two your Web photo album is done. Click "Publish", enter your FTP information, and the album is sent to the Web. That's all there is to it.
I was stunned by the results. JAlbum photo albums look as good as anything I've seen. They look like they took days to create.
You can get JAlbum at jalbum.net. Click the download link, click "Skip this step" (they don't even require you register), and then download JAlbum for Windows.
I'd get JAlbum soon. Software this good won't be free forever. If that isn't enough, they've got 27 album styles (called skins) that you can download for free.
