Gain Traffic By Separating Your Site
A good way to gain exposure on the web is to divide your site into several little sites.
I'm not talking about adding new pages. Just rearrange the pages you do have. For example, if you have a web site with 5 product pages, take one product page and put it on its own domain name. Then link it into the main site using http links. The user won't know the difference.
That gives you exposure at Google on two subjects, not just one.
Here's how it works:
Our site, Internet Man, ranks number one for its category. A company usually ranks number one for its company name.
We also publish a newsletter on the site. Rather offering newsletters pages on the main site, we bought Internet Tricks and deployed them there. Then we linked the two sites together using http links. We used the exact same pages. We just separated them into two sites. Everything looks the same.
By separating pages into two sites we now rank number one for Internet Man AND number 19 for Internet Tricks. By dividing our site into two physical sites we now have two streams of users coming in from Google, not just one.
Going a step further, we deployed our web design pages at web design gallery. We deployed our web software pages at web software tools. As a marketing strategy our site is now a matrix of 4 sites - the main site and 3 topic-specific sites.
Here are the resulting Google rankings:
1. Internet Man - number 1
2. Web Software Tools - number 2
3. Internet Tricks - number 19
4. Web Design Gallery - not yet ranked in the top 50
You can see how this works. Rearrange your existing pages into multiple topic-oriented web sites and gain multiple streams of traffic from Google.
